Business Development Manager

The Manager, Business Development, is responsible for the pursuit of permanent modular construction projects and its accompanying market and execution strategy, contributing to the company’s overall objectives. Under the direction of the Senior Vice President, Modular Canada, this position will draw meaningful collaboration from the team currently available in the company inclusive of estimating, design and engineering, manufacturing, projects, and construction. 


This will be a Calgary office-based position with the individual being required to travel within the territory as needed. 


In this position you are responsible for the development of the pipeline of opportunities in the permanent modular construction (PMC) market.


What You Get To Do:

  • Triage and pre-qualify opportunities using thoughtful and disciplined pursuit metrics to best evaluate the customer profile, execution strategy and risk and commercial performance. 
  • Develop proposals and RFP responses and carry out the life cycle of the pursuit from inception to award. 
  • Review, analyze and interpret various forms of contracts and associated risk profiling.
  • Engage & participate in industry-related events to promote the ATCO brand and create a customer network.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out safely and in accordance with ATCO policies and procedures.
  • Manage sales pipeline through Sales Force.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients and solicit their feedback (positive and negative) and escalating actions as needed.
  • Keep up to date on competitors and their relative strengths and weaknesses and market strategy approaches.


Who You Are: 

  • A business minded person with a drive for developing a growth vertical for the company within a fledging segment of the modular construction industry.
  • Demonstrable skills in prospecting and developing a pursuit strategy, negotiation, execution, and bottom-line contribution.
  • Good awareness of the construction industry in terms of process, permitting, contracts, schedules, budgets, planning, etc.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
