Here's how a Civil Superintendent fo our Toronto District office contributes to our team:


Responsibilities

  • Visualizes an entire project, plans and creates the complete project schedule, identifying the critical path, and proactively anticipating constructability issues.
  • Develops and implements the project safety plan and leads by example for health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Effectively communicates with our trade partners to ensure that performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are met.
  • Collaborates closely with the project team and our trade partners to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications.
  • Develops and implements the Project Execution Plan and resource-loaded lookahead schedules, ensuring compliance with budget and quality.
  • Reviews and understands the contract and subcontracts to develop a plan that identifies and mitigates risks and maximizes opportunities to ensure that all targets are met.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Coaches, trains, and mentors the project team including direct and indirect reports.
  • Other duties as required.


Qualifications

  • Postsecondary degree, college diploma, journeyperson certificate, or degree in a related discipline.
  • CET or Gold Seal certification is preferred.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive construction experience with leadership and mentoring preferred.
  • Experience in civil projects such as transit, rail, structures, bridges, and/or roadwork is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing a strong safety culture by application of health, safety, and environment principles and legislation.
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience in the construction industry; including building materials, construction methods, specifications, safety and environmental principles, and procedures.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to construction plans and schedules.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple scopes of a construction project, including monitoring, and coordinating our trade partners with the construction schedule.
  • Thorough understanding of productivity rates and ability to interpret cost reports.
  • Thorough understanding of contract language, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks and leverage opportunities.
  • Working knowledge of virtual construction software and Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
