Cloud Operations Manager

The Company

Wenco International Mining Systems (www.wencomine.com), a subsidiary of Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM), provides world-class productivity software and operator safety solutions for the world’s surface mining operations.

Wenco has R&D offices located in Australia, Canada and Chile.

The Role

Reporting to the CTO, the Cloud Operations Manager will lead a team of engineers who are responsible for Cybersecurity, Site Reliability and DevOps for the Wenco cloud platform.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

• Monitoring and operations of the cloud platform
• Maintenance and operations of CI/CD pipelines
• Implementation and operation of cybersecurity controls
• Leading critical incident response
• Management of cloud costs

The Experience

Must have:

• You are a technical hands-on leader with a deep understanding of AWS cloud architecture, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering and Cybersecurity
• You have 5+ years of experience leading a team of DevOps and/or Site Reliability Engineers for a commercial high availability SaaS product. Your experience includes collaborating with software engineering teams to achieve a high software delivery and operational performance
• You have experience leading the implementation of ISO 27001 and/or SOC2 controls and participating in audits
• You have experience in conducting security audits, risk assessments and security incident resolutions with internal and external stakeholders
• You have experience designing and implementing OKR’s to achieve team performance
• You have experience leading and influencing decision making with data insights
• You are willing to lead and participate in an on-call roster
• You have the ability to support communication about cloud systems and cybersecurity concepts to Wenco’s mining customers

Nice to have:

• You have experience with Azure DevOps
• You have experience driving continuous improvement initiatives including adoption of automation, monitoring and incident management tools and practices
• You have experience with projects under the Cloud Native (CNCF) Landscape
• You have experience leading and collaborating with globally distributed teams

Education & Eligibility

• Bachelor Degree in Information Technology (or equivalent)
• Must be eligible to work in Canada
• This role may require some travel to customers sites or international Wenco offices (~10%)
