Construction Project Manager

Edmonton, AB

The Construction Project Manager directs day-to-day project management, planning, and execution processes to meet the design requirements, schedules, and organizational financial objectives. They will manage governance of the projects by establishing standards, processes, and tools for effective project management throughout the project lifecycle. They will coordinate with the contractors and trades working on the project to ensure that goals are met on time and that each contracted company’s deliverables are compatible with all others. This position is available as a temporary contract for 1 to 1 ½ years depending on the project’s completion.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain project pricing proposals from consultant(s) and obtain approval from VP, EMS
  • Coordinate and attend construction meetings as required to update and achieve project goals
  • Coordinate tasks for all trades to ensure uniformity upon project completion
  • Ensure timely completion of the project while avoiding unnecessary penalties
  • Work within the budget by adequately estimating the costs and removing unnecessary expenses
  • Manage both internal and external risks within the project’s lifetime which directly or indirectly affect the project
  • Provide direction to and follow up with the general contractors and sub-contractors to ensure that the project is completed on time and on budget
  • Perform technical reviews of drawings and specifications, as well as provide input and feedback to consultants prior to tendering
  • Manage the project by following internal policies, procedures and processes


Education / Qualifications:

  • Construction Management Diploma/Degree or 5-10 years Industry experience


Relevant Experience:

  • 3- 5 Years experience as a Project Manager.
  • Evidence of similar Projects completed in the past.

Skills & Competencies:

· Extensive experience in construction techniques and ability to work within a budget

· Experience with the permitting process and knowledge of Building Codes and Regulations

· Detail oriented with strong communication skills, both verbal and written

· Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work with others

· Strong decision-making skills and ability to apply good judgement

· Ability to multi-task with minimal supervision
