Director Low Carbon Strategy & Development Execution

What You Will Do

  • Manage the organizational development of a strategic roadmap to achieve emission reduction goals. Maintains Enbridge’s position as partner of choice to collaborators, customers, communities, and employees through reductions of methane and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Responsible for the execution of GTM’s low carbon projects including projects where GTM has a non-operating, equity ownership. Works closely with business development in contract negotiations to ensure operational, technical, and commercial alignment.
  • Acts as a troubleshooter and resolves complex issues both during and post project execution when required and will develop capability within the organization to maintain optimum business operations
  • Develops and maintains internal and external relationships through low carbon projects, delivering on and holding those accountable for timely delivery on commitments within applicable agreements
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the technical, regulatory, and economic environments such that specific advice can be given to the Business Development teams on contracting language as well as opportunities and threats
  • Manage efforts with operations to develop project charter and scope documents which drive operational excellence and leadership in environmental and community stewardship
  • Achieves operational objectives by supplying information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; identifying trends; identifying system improvements and facilitating changes
  • Work with GTM and Corporate Strategy teams to integrate low carbon strategy into business unit and corporate strategic plans
  • Develop and complete the business unit offset strategy which may include a multi-million-dollar annual budget for offset procurement.
  • Manage financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing a detailed business plan and program budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions; provide input into development of financial models and risks assessments for investment review and commercial terms on emission reduction programs.
  • Develop, maintain, and foster relationships with diverse internal and external counterparties and customers through the development, execution and operational phases of a program.
  • Work with investment review and finance to determine project and program financial viability in long term emission reduction plan.
  • Develop approaches to assess the impact of climate change policies and energy markets to the business, mitigate the risks and find opportunities for Enbridge to lead through the energy transition.
  • Lead a team responsible for designing a framework to identify, quantify and report upon GHG forecast variance drivers and improve the overall accuracy of short and long-term forecasts including the use of back cast and actuals analyses
  • Coordinate and integrate GHG strategy into regulatory filings as required
  • Represent the company as leader to environmental partnership and programs
  • Lead efforts with government affairs to identify, review, and comment upon emerging policy and rule making in the energy/climate space.
  • Collaborate with marketing and low carbon business development efforts and speaking engagements to support Green Pipeline program.
  • Provide effective leadership through resourcing, coaching, and mentoring.


Who You Are


You have:

  • 10+ years of relevant and progressive experience in the natural gas industry in marketing, accounting, regulatory, transmission or related area along with a bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental sciences, or a related subject area
  • Significant experience delivering projects which engaged multi-disciplinary expertise and senior level decision makers

You Are

  • An excellent written and verbal communicator with great relationship building/managing capabilities where you can work cross-functionally to communicate tangible results in a clear and compelling way
  • Proficient with computer applications within the Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint, and Excel


The Following Are Considered Assets

  • Strong knowledge of carbon reduction technologies, trends and programs
  • Demonstrated industry leadership in Carbon Management, Energy Transition, or sustainability
  • Experience in project development execution from deep experience through resolutions of technical, construction or operational issues

Physical Requirements Include But Are Not Limited To


Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
