Job Description


Reporting to the VP Procurement, this role is integral to the delivery of American Iron & Metal (AIM) Supply Chain plan which will deliver of significant cost, service and risk improvement benefits.


The purpose of this job is to drive initiatives which directly support AIM strategy of revenue growth and cost management through:


What you're responsible for:


  • Leading the Strategic Sourcing & Warehousing Team to generate the benefits identified through strategic sourcing initiatives whilst managing a spend of ~$300M
  • Ensuring service and quality outcomes at competitive prices and minimal risk;
  • Forging a culture of cost consciousness through open and regular lines of communication;
  • Implementing leading practice frameworks;
  • Leading the development of the Strategic Sourcing Team capabilities through implementing development plans.


The successful candidate will


  • Provide leadership to the Supply Chain team in the application of leading practice strategic sourcing methodologies to successfully deliver the strategic sourcing program
  • Ensure the development of effective working relationships with business unit stakeholders across the organisation to enable successful program delivery
  • Personally lead highly complex strategic sourcing projects to ensure the best possible value is delivered to AIM
  • Establish and sustain effective relationships, interfaces and handovers between Strategic Sourcing, the Procurement Category Management, Warehousing and Operations teams to enable successful implementation of Strategic Sourcing projects and delivery of benefits
  • Work with individual Strategic Sourcing team members to develop Strategic Sourcing skills and capabilities and create a recognized Centre of Excellence in Strategic Sourcing
  • Implement and sustain leading practice tools and templates for Supply Chain to enable AIM to identify and engage suppliers best suited to meeting our strategic requirements.
  • Be accountable for Supply Chain’s Supplier Risk Management activities


Qualifications


  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Law or other appropriate discipline is essential together with a minimum of 9 years’ experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing and/or Supply Chain Management with proven track record in delivering year on year savings, service and risk management benefits
  • Proven ability to successfully deliver a strategic sourcing program through successfully leading the delivery of multiple simultaneous projects
  • Significant experience in strategic sourcing of critical and complex spend areas within the mining/materials extraction industry
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current Strategic Sourcing trends and best practice methodologies.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a successful team providing excellent customer service
  • Advanced negotiating skills
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen
  • Excellent communication skills with strong change management capabilities and able to influence improvements both directly and indirectly.
  • Ability to communicate at Executive Committee levels both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is required.
