THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently seeking a Manager to join our team, and help manage projects from our Vancouver office.

Brightspot Climate is well known among our industry peers as a leading greenhouse gas (GHG) verification services provider. We are also known for our consulting work in the areas of greenhouse gas quantification and reporting, policy and protocol development, advising on environmental reporting and compliance, life cycle assessment, and much more. The Manager will support and help lead Brightspot’s work in all of these areas.

The primary role for this person will be to complete a wide range of tasks contributing to Brightspot’s GHG verification and reporting services, including managing projects and project teams, completing engineering recalculations, report writing, climate policy-related research, proposal writing, and business development.

The ideal candidate is well organized and has strong research, analytical, and communication skills. The successful candidate must be able to adapt to an ever-changing work plan while ensuring tasks are completed with a high level of accuracy. Self-motivated, they will quickly learn our processes and help identify opportunities on how to improve them. As an integral part of our team, they will take initiative beyond the scope of their specific job description.

The Manager will regularly work with all members of the Brightspot Climate team, including subcontractors and strategic partners.


EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Passionate about climate change and sustainability
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science
  • Registered member of a professional association
  • 7 to 9 years of professional experience in a senior role managing a portfolio of projects and mentoring staff
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, collaborative, and able to produce high-quality work products
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, organization, and time management skills
  • Excellent technical, analytical, writing, and presentation skills
  • Desire to take on new challenges and continue professional development
  • Ability to collaborate remotely across geographies and sectors
  • Ability to work independently and monitor a team in a deadline-oriented and project-based environment
  • Valid Driver’s License


IDEAL CANDIDATES MAY ALSO HAVE THE FOLLOWING ATTRIBUTES

  • Professional consulting experience
  • Experience managing GHG quantification and/or verification projects
  • Strong experience designing and building Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with British Columbia climate change regulations and policy and experience working with jurisdictional regulators
  • Training in the ISO 14064 family of GHG management standards
  • Experience working within ISO 14065 accredited programs


JOB DETAILS

The Manager position will be a full-time permanent position with occasional travel and field work within Canada. Our target start date for this position is Fall 2023.
