Manager, Facilities and Pipeline Maintenance

SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Manager, Facilities and Pipeline Maintenance plans and coordinates the delivery of centralized operational maintenance programs at SaskEnergy. This position provides leadership to the corporate Reliability Centered Maintenance program and works collaboratively with Area Operations to define provincial standards for maintenance work activities and provincial safety standards at SaskEnergy.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop, lead, and optimize the delivery of centralized operational maintenance programs, standards, and specifications, specifically focusing on SaskEnergy transmission and distribution facilities pipelines, including compressor stations, metering delivery/receipt sites, town border stations, and custody transfer.
  • Create and lead the strategic roadmap for provincial Facilities and Pipelines Maintenance, including guidelines for how to extend the life of SaskEnergy’s compression fleet and related equipment.
  • Manage and provide leadership to internal resources and external consultants dedicated to transmission and distribution maintenance and analysis.
  • Lead the delivery of centralized operational maintenance programs, focusing on critical assets such as rotating and process equipment for the compression of natural gas and the transmission and distribution equipment and pipelines from them.
  • Identify, monitor, and track key performance indicators for operational facilities and pipelines maintenance programs.
  • Monitor and support business unit performance, team effectiveness and accountability to ensure planned goals result in desired outcomes.
  • Lead provincial strategies for the coordination of parts, tools, third party consultants, and outages in a manner that supports Area Operations.
  • Provide technical support by applying engineering principles in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of maintenance related problems.
  • Maintain an awareness of industry developments and find solutions for more efficient operations planning, maintenance, and safety.
  • Collaborate with SaskEnergy engineering and reliability teams to develop strategies which extend the life of in-service assets.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Metallurgical, Chemical, Petroleum preferred).
  • Professional Engineer Designation registered to practice in Saskatchewan.
  • Experience as required to obtain Professional Engineer Designation.
  • Seven (7) years of related experience and exposure to natural gas industry practices, damage prevention, or pipeline operations would be considered an asset.
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to take complex technical concepts and synthesize them into clear and meaningful communications for the target audience.
  • Demonstrated competence with change management, business operations and technical leadership in delivering strategic solutions and services.
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees while building and maintaining effective relationships and empowering team members to succeed.
  • Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.


A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.

  • Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters is required on occasion.
  • A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
