Manager - Strategy and Operational Excellence - CBO

What YOU Will Do


Reporting to the EVP, acts as a “senior dynamicresource” who activelyhelps the EVP and the Operating VPs drive operational improvements, design/implement KPIs and dashboards, accelerates strategic projects, build and refine business cases, support the implementation of robust management systems, and contribute to other strategic initiatives.


This is a fast-paced role with high demands, and it requiresthe flexibility to meet aggressive deadlines with multiple, parallel, complex corporate projects. Success in this role requires strong financial acumen, outstanding communications skills, agility, pragmatism, good instincts, and the abilityto influence without authority.


Responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain awareness and understanding of the EVPs portfolio including the strategic direction, program initiatives, and operational projects.
  • Act as a “business value accelerator” by joining project teams to augment the teams or close potential talent gaps among team members. Drive improved business case development; improve project reports; drive better decision-making; keep EVP apprised of “amber” or “red” issues; have insights as to looming or potential risk.
  • Work directly with the EVP to prepare business cases, strategy materials, steering committee materials, project updates, etc.
  • Participate in strategic discussions, decision-making, active implementation of key initiatives.
  • Attend meetings with, and in many circumstances, on behalf of the EVP. Act as meeting chair, scribe, facilitator, or active participant as required.
  • Prepare, edit, or augment presentation, pre-reads, full PowerPoint decks, white papers, and business case materials to be sent to the executive team, project managers, and other audiences.
  • Build and maintain productive and highly collaborative relationships with operations leaders.
  • Coordinate with senior operations leaders to ensure strategic goals are achieved and effectively communicated to executives and sponsors.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to develop, track, and target team-wide success metrics across all operational units.
  • Serves as a liaison between staff, management, and executives regarding company climate, employee well-being, project updates, proposals, and planning.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge and Skills :


  • Proven experience organizing and directing multiple teams and departments.
  • Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of the business environment.
  • Ability to clearly understand the business objectives and operations performance drivers.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills; must be comfortable communicating with senior level management.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize various deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently, but also as a part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: credible; consistent; active listening; confident but fully cognizant of one’s own strengths versus development needs.
  • Professional, discreet, mature judgment.


Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or similar field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job.
  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience in a business role such as project management, operations management, corporate development, financial analysis, or management consulting.
