North America Director of Engineering, Sustainable Infrastructure Services

What You Will Do


  • As a member of the Sustainability Infrastructure Services (SIS) Team, the Director of Engineering will manage a team of engineers and subject management experts. The manager will direct the engineering team to participate in the design-build and SIS infrastructure projects as a Facility Management/Building Engineering subject matter expert providing support to the Site Customer Business Managers.
  • You will manage a team of engineers and project managers that will be required to design, review, and implement conceptual solutions such as energy projects, infrastructure improvements, and lifecycle renewal projects for the SIS sites.
  • You will manage engineers and SMEs to oversee contractors of medium to large complex commercial/building construction projects from financial close through commissioning and start-up of operations.
  • Your team will be required to provide operational support and to develop emergency operating procedures which is necessary for maintaining uptime and avoiding operational risks.
  • Development of maintenance operating procedures, standard operating procedures, and emergency operating procedures.
  • Development and management of large change order scopes


How You Will Do It


  • You must have advanced understanding of building HVAC system, energy management, security fire systems, building automation systems and services, operations and maintenance, facility management, and are able to combine these capabilities to solve critical customer needs over the short and long term.
  • Input and review into all out of scope and lifecycle projects relating to energy and HVAC systems.
  • Understand contract terms and conditions, specifically with regards to KPIs and payment mechanism
  • Understand P3 and Performance Based Infrastructure contract terms and obligations


What We Look For


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 10 years of experience in facility operations, including engineering, energy management, subcontractor management, project management, and lifecycle projects
  • 5 years of experience in P3 transition management and/or operations management
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Executed numerous success projects, under capital renewal, change order, and energy improvements.
  • Experience with legal teams, insurance claims, and dispute resolution
  • Thorough knowledge of a wide area of P3 FM/O&M Business, JCI business systems and infrastructures
  • Ability to plan and execute projects and a high degree of effectiveness in team leadership
  • Excellent verbal and communications skills
  • Frequent travel (30%+) required across North America
  • Knowledge of battery manufacturing plant, industrial background is nice to have.
