This role offers the opportunity to manage exciting projects in a unique work environment where design meets construction.

Environment & Culture:

  • Vibrant Workspace: Our office is filled with natural light, offering stunning views of the water and cool mass timber elements, blending the atmosphere of a design firm with a construction company. The semi-open concept office features pony walls to reduce noise while maintaining a bright, airy feel, complemented by an abundance of plants.
  • Team Spirit: Our team is young, sharp, and maintains a quiet yet vibrant atmosphere. We host four team events per year, including an AGM, Christmas party, and summer BBQ. Enjoy additional perks like season tickets to hockey and baseball, and occasional golf outings with the owner.

  • Committed: Join a dedicated team with the capacity and integrity to deliver high-quality work.
  • Collaborative: Experience early collaboration and teamwork, moving beyond traditional silos to achieve project goals.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead the planning and execution of commercial construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Resource and Capacity Management: Oversee project resources, manage capacity, and ensure effective utilization of team and materials.
  • Contracts and Purchasing: Handle contracts, procurement processes, and purchasing for projects, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Maintain high levels of client satisfaction through direct engagement and managing client expectations.
  • Mentoring and Training: Provide mentorship, training, and coaching to team members, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Predicting and Reporting: Anticipate project needs, conduct inspections, and report on progress, issues, and outcomes.
  • Policy and Process Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies and processes (FBA) and maintain high standards of quality assurance and quality control.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 8+ years managing commercial construction projects with a proven track record of completing projects on time and on budget.
  • Education: Post-secondary education in a construction-related field (Diploma or Degree). Experience with mass timber and prefabricated structures is an asset.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with experience in managing people, department operations, and budgets.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with technology such as Google Workspace, Buildertrend, BIM Software (Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp). PMP Certification and a Diploma or Degree in Architecture or Engineering are assets.
  • Relevant Experience: At least 5 years as a Project Manager with experience on commercial new build projects around the $18M range. Familiarity with CCDC contracts and experience with at least one direct report (like a Project Coordinator) are required.
