QA/QC Technician

Agassiz, BC

SUMMARY:

The Concrete & Aggregate divisions at the Klaassen Group of Companies, has achieved an extraordinary level of growth over the past several years. The QA / QC Technician will play a critical role in facilitating further growth by maintaining product quality, consistency, and safety standards throughout the production process for Agassiz Ready Mix, Hope Ready Mix, Linterra Aggregates and other Klaassen Group companies. This position will provide timely and accurate process control information, ensure that all testing equipment is operating properly, perform pre-pour and post-pour checks, perform concrete testing and certify that completed products meet specifications. Daily adherence to Canadian Standards Association (CSA) is required, as well as ensuring all requirements are met to maintain certification to these standards.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These tasks are strictly an outline of essential duties & responsibilities; any other duties may also be assigned when required.

  • Conduct routine inspections of raw materials, production processes, and finished products to ensure compliance with industry standards and company specifications.
  • Perform various laboratory tests and analyses on concrete mixtures, aggregates, and other materials to assess their quality and characteristics.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of test results, inspections, and quality control data. Prepare and update quality reports.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and work collaboratively with production teams to implement corrective actions and quality enhancement measures.
  • Ensure that all quality control activities align with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Calibrate and maintain testing equipment and tools to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Promote and adhere to safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Provide training and guidance to ready mix drivers on mixes, slumps, air contents, etc.
  • Visit job sites to respond to quality control issues and to ensure that Technical Services and Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures are being followed.
  • Work with management to ensure optimal production from plants.
  • Assist at the job site when required.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • 2 years’ experience in a quality control or quality assurance role within a manufacturing or construction environment.
  • Experience working in the concrete industry is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of concrete materials, testing methods, and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with testing equipment and tools used in quality control.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards is preferred.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Min. Grade 12 Secondary Education
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1 certification (certification must be obtained within one year of start date) or CCIL Concrete Certification (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license


PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Able to work in an industrial environment that may include dust, heat, loud noise, etc.
  • Physically fit and able to climb ladders, scaffolding and stockpiles and lift up to 50lbs
  • Will have company supplied vehicle for travel between Hope, Agassiz, Chilliwack
  • Work overtime as required

Salary: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
