Senior Civil Engineer

Green Cat Renewables Canada Corp. (GCR) is an established engineering consultancy providing full-scope development support to renewable generation, green hydrogen production and energy storage projects across Europe and North America. The company has offices in Canada and the United Kingdom and comprises of a multidisciplinary team, consisting of over ninety engineers, specialist consultants, technicians, project managers, site managers and technical specialists. GCR provide a complete, in-house consultancy and project management service to deliver renewable energy generation concepts through the entire project life cycle, from initial feasibility to commercial operation.

To support our ongoing growth in North America, the Calgary team seeks a Senior Civil Engineer with a keen interest in renewable and sustainable energy.

  • Developing construction site plans as well as the design of civil infrastructure for renewable energy projects
  • Stormwater management design, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, developing erosion control plans, stormwater drainage design and roadworks design.
  • Executing conceptual and detailed engineering design, engineering calculations, and preparing technical specifications and reports
  • Performing quantity and cost estimates
  • Ensuring plans are in accordance with local guidelines, codes, and other regulations.
  • Serving as a Responsible Member for the company with APEGA (for the Civil Engineering discipline)
  • Serving as an Engineer of Record for projects and authenticating documents and drawings, as required
  • Undertaking field visits during the development and construction phase of projects to support engineering design, technical assessments, and project oversight activities.
  • Supporting the mentorship and development of junior staff, including the review drawings and technical documentation to ensure high standards of quality.
  • Supporting the growth of the Canadian civil design team.

What you’ll bring to Green Cat Renewables

  • An Undergraduate Degree in a Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • A Professional Engineer and registered as a P. Eng. with APEGA (or eligible for immediate transfer/registration with APEGA).
  • At least 10 years of civil design experience in the consulting sector.
  • A working knowledge of Civil3D and other civil design software such as PCSWMM.
  • Strong experience in the design of civil infrastructure including access roads, storm sewers, culverts, grading/drainage, earthworks.
  • Ideally familiar with the principals of renewable energy development.
  • Comfortable in a client facing role. Client relationships are of great importance to our business.
  • A proactive, adaptable mind-set with a willingness to work independently or as part of a team.
  • A willingness to undertake travel and occasional overnight stays.
  • Legally able to reside and work in Canada.
  • Able to travel nationally and internationally.

Working Conditions and Compensation

  • Competitive package includes experience-based salary (negotiable), health benefits, RRSP and substantial vacation allowance.
  • Primarily office based (downtown Calgary), with flexible remote work arrangements.
  • Also open to considering contract role if preferred.
