Job Description


Position Overview


As Director, Origination you will be responsible for leading our Canada and New York Origination teams. You will provide leadership and guidance in developing and implementing customer outreach strategies, building new and existing customer relationships, and communicate Invenergy’s story and key attributes of our product offerings. You will propose and structure clean energy power transactions for the company’s wind, solar, and energy storage resource portfolio. You will also work with customers to understand their evolving energy needs and develop new and innovative commercial structures to help them meet their goals by leveraging Invenergy's wide ranging capabilities. The role would be an ideal growth opportunity for an ambitious self-starter looking to build on existing experience in the energy industry to help fuel the growth of one of the most dynamic and entrepreneurial companies in the industry.


Responsibilities


  • Initiate and identify new origination prospects and implement an outreach strategy for all products and technologies under development, with a focus on executing Power Purchase Agreements.
  • Coordinate with development, finance, engineering and other departments to develop solutions for customers, including assisting in the development of proposals and pricing for opportunities
  • Originate and assist with structuring and closing large wholesale power transactions in coordination with Commercial Transactions team
  • Provide leadership to team on developing and implementing customer outreach strategies
  • Develop and maintain strong customer and business relationships
  • Prepare and deliver internal and external presentations to leadership
  • Provide guidance and growth opportunities to advance members of the origination team


Required Skills


  • Applicants should possess at least 5-10 years of experience in the power sector. A degree in business, economics, finance or a similar field is preferred
  • Knowledge of the Canadian and New York electric utility industry and electric energy markets.
  • Working knowledge of electric transmission, power generation, and storage technologies
  • A solid track record of success in a development or sales capacity in the clean energy sector
  • Strong sales, networking, leadership, negotiation and time management skills
  • Proven track record of leading a sales team
  • Outstanding problem solving, strategic thinking, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead a team as well as be an effective individual contributor
  • Ability to make decisions with limited information and in light of ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under significant time and pressure constraints
  • Ability to travel up to 25-50% of the time
  • Fluency in French is strongly preferred
