Senior Estimator

Vancouver, BC

The Senior Estimator will report to Director, Preconstruction and provide oversight to the Preconstruction team as well as all projects within Wesgroup’s portfolio. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for providing critical feedback and sound construction knowledge to the project team.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide critical construction knowledge feedback at project consultant meetings to ensure complete project documents are produced
  • Assist the Director of Preconstruction in overseeing the Preconstruction team, including Estimators and
  • Junior Estimators
  • Liaise with internal departments, including Development, Interior Design, Leasing, and Property Management to provide feedback on different aspects of the project
  • Work with the project team to value engineer projects, providing a "thinking outside the box" mentality to enhance project delivery
  • Review project drawings and specifications for coordination between disciplines
  • Create coordination review lists for presentation to the Director of Preconstruction and the project team
  • Coordinate resolution of constructability issues during design and lead design and construction document reviews
  • Prepare trade scope packages to ensure no scope gaps and include all required separate and unit pricing

 

 

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:

 

  • A diploma or degree from BCIT (or equivalent) is required, as well as, related field experience.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years’ experience working in the Vancouver construction market, ideally experience with multi-family wood frame / concrete high rise. Working with a developer or general contractor preferred.
  • Experience using digital Take Off software is required; OST
  • Experience using BIM/Revit software; AutoDesk
  • Excellent and above average communication skills in English both written and oral.
  • Exceptional phone skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret contract specifications, drawings and other construction documents.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in order to prioritize work load and stay on top of things as the project demands increase.
  • Self-motivated with strong willingness and ability to learn and be challenged.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including conflict resolution abilities.
  • Above average mathematical skills are necessary for this position along with report compilation.
  • Works effectively in a team environment.
  • Hard working and a problem solver.
  • Experience using MS Office suite, Bluebeam
  • Positive and upbeat attitude.
