Senior Long-Term Engineer (Remote)


Position Description


Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the successful candidate will be in charge of Barrick Hemlo’s long term planning and scheduling. Incorporating recent and future exploration results, the incumbent will evaluate mining opportunities and determine appropriate mining methods to shape the future of the operation. This position is eligible to be performed remotely with some travel to the mine site required.


Responsibilities

  • Produce and maintain Life of Mine plan
  • Perform economic analysis for new mining areas
  • Evaluate and propose optimization & of mining methods
  • Support annual budgeting process & cost modelling process
  • Utilize Deswik to develop mine plans
  • Lead the Reserves process for site
  • Support studies for future mine expansions
  • Participate in strategic planning of operation
  • Regular Travel ( Some travel may be required.
  • Weekend work may be required.


Qualifications


  • 7 – 10+ years mine planning experience with multiple mining methods (required)
  • Degree in Mining Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  • P.Eng in Ontario or the ability to transfer credentials within one year (preferred)
  • Underground mining experience (required)
  • Functional knowledge of geotechnical & ventilation principals
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Open pit experience (desirable)
  • MS Office Suite (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, MS Outlook)
  • Experience using Deswik Software (CAD, Sched) or similar Mine Planning Software Required.
  • Experience using Xeras (desirable)
