Job Description
Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

What will I be doing?
- Develops project strategies while providing overall administrative and technical leadership and oversight to multiple corridor project activities to ensure coordination of efforts and successful completion.
- Implements standards and manages critical paths/milestones, by monitoring mechanisms for projects (e.g. budget, schedule, scope, quality); regularly reports to Director on project status.
- Develops, implements, and manages the ongoing maintenance of standards, guidelines and management control systems that promote safe, efficient and cost-effective project execution, using industry best practices; oversees reporting and documentation project requirements for quality and compliance.
- Delivers presentations, attends meetings, and provides acts as ambassador for the organization and its initiatives.
- Develops recommendations for management associated with capital project budgets for corridor infrastructure projects.
- Creates a working environment that is aligned with the organization’s desire to be a “best company to work for”, ensuring that people resources possess the required skills, are properly aligned, and are provided with the resources to do the job.
- Maintains industry relations with key suppliers and construction associations to exchange technical information and share best practice.
- Establishes and maintains a network of peers in the industry to stay abreast of industry standards, regulations, rail operations, and requirements pertaining to corridor infrastructure project activities
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Demonstrates progressive experience providing comprehensive engineering and project management services associated with the planning, design, and construction of transit facilities, station infrastructure, and related works. Previous experience includes leading a team of technical professionals.
- Completion of a degree in Applied Science, Engineering, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Valid Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license recognized by the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) an asset.
- Theories, principles and practices of civil and architectural design and construction; skill and proficiency in broad phases of engineering application.
- Project management principles and practices, including budget and schedule controls, to lead and direct cross functional teams and consultants engaged in simultaneous projects (e.g. development, project progress, related staff and project resources) and monitor project activities for adherence to timelines, budgets, and project performance objectives.
- Budget management to plan and monitor departmental budgets against limitations.
- Knowledge of railway corridor infrastructure and related construction projects.
