The Broadway Subway Project Corporation (BSPC) is an Acciona-Ghella general partnership to deliver a 5.7 km extension of the Millennium Line, from VCC-Clark Station to Broadway and Arbutus. Once complete, it will provide fast, frequent, and convenient service to B.C.’s second largest jobs center, world-class health services, an emerging innovation and research hub, and growing residential communities.
Reporting to the MEP Manager, the Senior MEP Coordinator is responsible for all on-site Mechanical works, Fire Protection and Electrical construction activities assigned under his/her responsibility on a daily basis. This role will include both project management and on-site supervision duties. The successful candidate needs to ensure that construction activities occurs safely, manage subcontractors to ensure on-time and on-budget completion, verify construction compliance with design requirements, and coordination with other groups on site.
Responsibilities:
- Project ManagementWorking with the Station Construction team, manage subcontractor MEP budgets, schedules, and changes.
- Interface with the design team, by managing subcontractor Request For Information (RFIs), Field Change Requests (FCRs), shop drawing approval process and work method statements.
- Cost control of the activities assigned under their responsibility, providing in a Monthly basis the closure information.
- Plan in advance all the activities to predict, as much as possible, the possible constraints.
- Lead the Pull plan activities in regard to the Fire Fighting, Mechanical and Electrical works.
- Take the lead on productivity issues and monitor work performance and efficiency of subcontractors to ensure project plans and schedule are followed and project is executed effectively and within budget
- Coordinate with the Quality Department for the PICO activities once the installation is finished and join the EoR inspection, solving any potential punch after the PICO activities.
- Coordinate with Commissioning team when the Commissioning activities may start in each one of the disciplines.
- Attend Construction meetings to provide information about the progress and main challenges.
- Site SupervisionSupervise subcontractors’ activities to ensure its work is completed safely
- Coordinate all MEP subcontractors at site to ensure a proper coordination between activities.
- Coordinate MEP Activities with Civil and Architectural activities to prevent possible clashes and interferences between activities.
- Perform inspections, track installed quantities, and ensure work is performed as per specifications and drawings
- Complete site inspections to ensure project materials and workmanship meets the project Quality Standards
- Prepare the areas to handover to Systems activities as per critical rooms.
- Ensure that all the punch list is solved
- Experience/Qualifications:Educational and experience requirements include a four-year construction or engineering related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
- 5 years of experience in construction, including experience with both Mechanical and Electrical disciplines
- Experience on transit or rail projects
- Ability to evaluate trade performance is essential.
- Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings and other documents.
- Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate with others a must
