Senior Vice President - Roads

Remote Toronto, ON

In this role you will lead the Project Delivery (Roads) team in completion of their assigned work with respect to highway projects. You will be the single point of contact with our MTO clients to help prioritize, assess, procure and ultimately delivery projects as well as leading all aspects of team management and interaction with various internal and external stakeholders


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Deliver projects ensuring integration, coordination and consistency with strategic corporate directions and goals.
  • Lead internal processes and committees, where commercial issues exist. Provide expert advice and direction to teams, and other partners to ensure alignment across various functional areas.
  • Provide leadership in the development of contract documents and ensuring appropriate level of due diligence necessary to get to the commencement of construction.
  • Lead the development and delivering project implementation plans to ensure the delivery of projects on time and on budget.
  • Ensure comprehensive project management oversight is maintained throughout the planning, transaction, construction, commissioning and final completion phases of each project.
  • Provide leadership in the development and utilization of project control tools to manage projects. Enforcing project management policies and guidelines, ensuring consistency with project requirements.
  • Manage project risks to ensure delivery of projects within approved schedule, budget and quality parameters.
  • Work closely with the delivery team members, internal and external advisors, managing various project risks from the concept phase of each project through to completion and hand-over.
  • Build and maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships with clients and proactively work with them to mitigate potential issues and challenges.
  • Manage complex stakeholder networks for various projects and brokering solutions to issues which arise.
  • As part of the senior executive team, establish internal reporting standards and processes. Ensure accurate and timely reporting on all projects delivered by the team.
  • Build, develop and motivate a team of high-caliber professionals that provide high quality services and enhancing reputation as a reliable business partner.
  • Lead the development of performance measurement processes, training and development programs for the team to support knowledge transfer, skills development and the team’s ability to successfully manage deliverables.
  • Evaluate current business processes and integrating team’s activities with other business units within the division and across Infrastructure Ontario.
  • Oversee all communications strategies and activities related to projects and keep the EVP, Project Delivery, CEO, Board, and senior ministry officials informed of issues or events that may concern them.


WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A University Degree, or College Diploma, in Engineering, Commerce/Business or similar discipline, with extensive relevant experience, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Knowledge of government priorities and approval processes, along with a clear understanding of inter-relations of the government’s mandate, priorities and deliverables are highly desirable.
  • Senior level experience in the managing, planning, development and construction of complex P3, PDB projects, including experience with Alternative Delivery Models and Procurement, P3 or design build projects.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the commercial landscape of civil infrastructure, with specific experience in Road or large civil projects is an asset
  • Experience in providing advice on commercial and technical issues, specific to developing risk mitigation strategies
  • Experience managing a diverse group of professionals, and the proven ability to build relationships and effectively deal with stakeholders and senior leadership is essential.
