What you’ll do -


• Work with internal clients to define survey scope and budget for a variety of legal and engineering survey tasks

related to BC Hydro projects.

• Supervise/mentor internal field and office personnel to deliver legal and engineering survey products.

• Act as BC Hydro Representative on contracts for survey tasks being completed on behalf of BC Hydro by external

survey contractors across the province.

• Work closely with the BC Hydro properties management group to ensure BC Hydro interests are properly

secured/maintained.

• Act in an advisory role on BC Hydro projects with regards to Geodesy, spatial data management/ quality, land

tenure, Legal/Engineering surveys, contract management etc.

• Manage/monitor quality control processes to ensure all products meet BC Hydro and survey industry standards.

• Manage/monitor project status, data retention/archiving, correspondence, close-out etc.

• Maintain productive relationships with a variety of government agencies (LTSA, NRCAN, MOTI, Municipalities,

etc.).


What you bring –


• Minimum of 8 years as a British Columbia Land Surveyor in good standing with the Association of British Columbia Land Surveyors. **BC Hydro will consider candidates with lesser qualifications for a lower category position such as those with less than 8 years as BCLS or candidates who are registered as land surveyor in training with ABCLS. Similar qualifications may also be considered such as commissioned as a Canada Land Surveyor

• Must be an excellent communicator (written and verbal) and be able to explain complex survey principles to internal clients and co-workers of all knowledge levels.

• Must have significant legal survey experience and an excellent understanding of boundary principles related to various road types, natural boundaries, Crown and Private land tenure and all associated research document types and sources.

• Must have significant Engineering survey experience and an excellent understanding of Geodesy, high precision control surveys (conventional/GNSS), deformation monitoring, bathymetric surveys, centre-line surveys and various topographic data collection methods.

• Must be capable of managing a large number of survey projects of varying size simultaneously in an organized way to meet project commitments.

• Must have a good understanding of various survey data adjustment methods and software packages such as Starnet, Leica Geo Office, Infinity, etc.

• Must have a good understanding of drafting principles (Legal and Engineering) and be familiar with Civil 3D.

• Must be capable of designing and managing a comprehensive quality control/assurance system for the survey products being delivered.

• A commission as a Canada Lands Surveyor or good knowledge of surveys on Canada Lands is an asset .

• A Degree in Geomatics Engineering is an asset.

• Designation as a P.Eng (Geomatics) is an asset.
