Sr. Engineer - Field Maintenance, Site C

What You'll Do:

* We’re seeking an experienced and practical senior electrical engineer with an interest and background in maintenance and repair of industrial equipment to join our Field Maintenance Engineering team to work in Fort St. John at our new facility, Site C. We’re not biased at all, but our team thinks Site C Maintenance Engineering is one of the most interesting, dynamic, and fulfilling jobs around - from accepting equipment into operation (starting this year), to deploying the maintenance program for that equipment, and providing ongoing technical guidance to the maintenance and operation crews, you’ll be involved from the very beginning of this new facility’s life.


* This is an amazing opportunity to join our dynamic and collaborative team supporting our brand-new 1,100 MW generating station located in the beautiful and affordable city of Fort St. John. This location is also eligible for additional remote incentives outlined below in the additional information section.


* Maintenance Engineering can be a fast-paced job with varying duties depending on the day, the overhaul schedule, or recalcitrant equipment.


Some base job duties include the following:


• Engineering support for maintenance and troubleshooting of the Site C generating station, as well as support structures, including switchyards, spillways, and dams.

• Leading Root Cause Analysis and acting as a subject matter expert for failures and equipment issues.

• Reviewing, revising, and making technical recommendations on preventative maintenance programs and condition based/ corrective maintenance and repair.

• Providing technical support in the development of capital plans and plant improvement projects. • Commissioning equipment.

• Providing field review and input to the maintenance program and future projects in collaboration with Asset Management.

• Overall, the Maintenance Engineer has a technical leadership role in the plant. There is frequent communication with managers as well as crew, and people management skills are an asset.


What You Bring:

* Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering

* Be registered (in good standing) or eligible for immediate registration as a professional engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.

* Have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in a relevant maintenance engineering role. We encourage applicants from all industrial sectors to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with previous hydroelectrical maintenance engineering experience. We will consider applicants with less experience at the appropriate pay grade and level.

* Demonstrates experience in managing complex business relationships through collaboration to achieve specific goals.

* Demonstrates experience in prioritizing and completing high priority work tasks in a role where priorities can shift rapidly

What Else You Should Know:

* This location is eligible for a Remote Incentive of 12%. Remote Incentives are paid bi-weekly to Full-Time Regular employees working in eligible remote locations. Due to the remote location this position qualifies for additional financial incentives, which will be discussed further with shortlisted applicants.

* Driver's License Type = Class 5 is required * EGBC: Engineers & GeoScientists BC = In Good Standing

* Location will be FJO - Fort St. John Operations building and will later move to Site C after some units are commissioned.
