What Is The Opportunity


Aecon is seeking a Trackwork Manager to join the Urban Transportations Solutions group to support dynamic, transit projects across Canada. The Trackwork Manager will be responsible to oversee the track design, procurement, installation and Testing and Commissioning of track systems.


What You Will Do Here


  • Participate in the development of track design and execution planning while focusing on safety and balancing operational flexibility, reliability and maintenance obligations.
  • Provide technical support to projects in both pursuit and execution phases.
  • Provide quality and senior level reviews of track alignment and trackwork designs, specifications, implementation methodologies, testing and commissioning activities, schedules and cost estimates.
  • Advise the Project Management Team on the suitability to meet trackwork contractual design requirements, constructability, any risks and commercial impacts and its mitigation.
  • Provide interface management and coordination between Trackwork and any other project infrastructure (i.e. Civil Works, Stations, Systems, Rolling Stock, O&M…)
  • Supervise, mentor, coach and track personnel in all aspects of track construction.
  • Maintain excellent stakeholder relationships with clients, subcontractors, engineering, and internal partners.
  • Assist estimators in cost evaluations and compliance.
  • Assist schedulers in works execution planning and compliance.
  • Negotiate and issue subcontracts and major purchase orders and monitor their progress and schedule.
  • Responsible for approval of payments to subcontractors, suppliers etc.
  • Assume a key role in testing and commissioning and project close-out, including production of as-built design, archiving of documents, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies and warranty work.
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations.
  • Monitor company's or department's performance, prepare reports for senior management, and plan for changes to schedules and policies.
  • Carry out all engineering administration in accordance with company policies and procedures.


What You Will Bring To The Team


  • 10+ years’ experience in the design, construction, T&C and maintenance of track and track related infrastructure, including track construction technology, equipment, methods, industry practices, estimating/budgeting, scheduling and safety requirements.
  • Strong knowledge in the modern Railway projects, including various components/systems that these projects are made of.
  • Possess proven knowledge and extensive experience in design and construction of conventional track and track related infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience working on work pursuits and proposals and complex private and public partnership contracts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, able to communicate with different level of people in a multi-national project environment and motivate the project activities for timely delivery.
  • Ability to identify threats and opportunities, including the mitigation, realization and evaluation of risks.
  • Solid project management, leadership, and organizational skills.
