Vice President, Construction

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice-President of Construction to spearhead the formation of our construction division and lead it to success. Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP of Construction will be responsible for building and leading a high-performing team, while also rolling up their sleeves to ensure projects are completed with excellence, from shovel in the ground to final delivery.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the formation of our construction division and lead it towards success, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Build and lead a high-performing team, overseeing the hiring, training, and development of the construction team both onsite and in the office.
- Be hands-on in project execution, from ground-breaking to completion, ensuring all projects meet quality standards, safety regulations and owners’ expectations.
- Develop and implement construction strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize project delivery.
- Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities, working closely with senior leadership team and other stakeholders to ensure success of all projects from pre-construction through to final completion.
- Monitor project progress and performance, identifying potential risks and implementing proactive measures to mitigate issues and ensure project success.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity, and profitability.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure positive project outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Extensive leadership and management experience (minimum 15 years) in all phases of design and construction with both wood frame and concrete developments, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction principles, practices, and methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize complete demands.
- Proficiency in project management software and MS & Google Suite.
- Professional Certifications (PMP, LEED etc.) will be considered an asset.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and ethical business practices.
- Willingness to travel on a frequent basis, as needed, to various project sites and stakeholder meetings.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Preference for candidates with pre-existing relationships with reputable contractors and subtrades.
