The Vice President Major Project actively participates in the development of major project proposals and takes full responsibility for the success of the projects (Design construction projects and/or large-scale fixed-price construction projects) under his direction by directing all project operations, having full responsibility for business leadership , and achieving the strategic objectives of operational excellence and growth while prioritizing our human capital.
He will be part of the proposal team and will play a key role in obtaining contracts for EBC and/or joint ventures in which EBC will participate. He will supervise the operation of the projects, ensure strong cohesion and good communication with the project management team , maintain business relations with internal and external partners as well as clients in order to meet and exceed project performance indicators.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations management
- Manage the tunnel group, part of the Major Projects Division: lead all tunnel pre-qualifications and proposals, coordinating with area Vice-Presidents and their teams across Canada;
- Develop relationships with other contractors as potential partners;
- Be involved in the preparation of Teaming Agreements and Partnership Agreements;
- With the help of your team, support project start-up including staffing with key tunnel personnel, major equipment procurement, setup and start - up;
- Troubleshoot during operation, demobilization;
- Ensure all work is performed on time and within budget;
- Perform site visits on a regular basis;
- Evaluate and manage risk;
- Ensure communication between proposal team and construction team;
- Actively participate in the optimization of the design and analysis of project constructability during the proposal and implementation phases;
- Control project cost;
- Negotiate major subcontracting contracts with a view of optimizing prices in accordance with the quoted prices in order to maximize margins for EBC;
- Review contracts and negotiate terms & conditions during the proposition;
- Work in relation with clients in order to answer their needs;
- Supervise negotiation of major changes and preparation of claims ;
- Follow process and optimize procedure;
- Act as a Health & Safety ambassador and promote the organizational culture;
- Ensure the implementation and monitoring of quality management ;
- Stay inform ed of latest technologies and equipment improvements;
- Participate and represent EBC at tunnelling conferences.
Team management

- Develop short and long-term strategic plans for the company aiming for growth and operational excellence ;
- Support new market initiatives, new business opportunities through optimal use of resources/assets, current industry trends and group competitiveness ;
- Remain attentive to our strengths when strategizing objectives ;
- Establish and maintain strategic business relationships with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders ;
- Seek advance knowledge of upcoming projects and strategically plan business alliances (team, association, exclusivity, etc.) ;
- Lead, collaborate and/or develop offer of services and proposals ;
- Possess strong interviewing and business development skills with potential customers ;
- Identify and assist by leading new business opportunities, presentations, attend client conferences and dinners.

REQUIREMENTS:
Requirements
- University degree in civil engineering or any other engineering degree related to construction and project management ;
- Previous civil experience specifically in heavy civil projects with clients such as Metrolinx, Infrastructure Ontario, OPG and City of Toronto ;
- Minimum 15 years of experience in construction and project management ;
- Minimum 10 years of experience in major tunneling and underground project s;
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure such as: Infrastructures, grade separation, bridges, dams, storm water management pond, in-water work, trackwork and grading ;
- A proven track record of project success and team leadership ;
- Good knowledge of geology and geotechnical ; .
- Strong experience delivering large scale projects within a partnership environment;
- Strong experience with alternative delivery mode projects (Design Build, P3) ;
- Strong knowledge of financial management, as well as building codes and associated legislation ;
- Good computer skills and previous experience with scheduling software;
- Bilingual (French and English) is an asset;
- Frequent travel is required.
