Our Ideal Candidate


This position is responsible for leading the business development initiatives within the mining sector throughout the Western & and Eastern regions of Canada. You will be responsible for securing major projects, such as studies, engineering and design, and field services from clients in the mining sector. This is accomplished by assessing market opportunities, identifying potential clients, cultivating client relationships, and generating qualified opportunities. You will be responsible for proactively identifying and qualifying opportunities and influencing their associated decision-makers and users while working with Senior Operations Leaders to successfully close the opportunity.


A Day in the Life


This position is responsible for leading the business development initiatives within the mining sector throughout the Western and Eastern regions of Canada.


Additional key responsibilities include


  • Advancing Allnorth’s presence in the mining sector for all phases of engineering and construction support
  • Participation in the development and follow through on a growth strategy for Allnorth’s mining services
  • Building a pipeline of project opportunities within precious, base and ferrous metals, mining and mineral processing market
  • Leading client relationship building activities including managing existing client relationships, and expansion of the client base
  • Leading proposal related activities to secure project work for studies, environmental assessment and permitting, detailed engineering, construction management, and site closure and reclamation
  • Active involvement in project delivery including support for proposal management, project management, subject matter expert or project sponsor capacities
  • Support recruitment activities targeted at mining professionals who are needed to support the growth of the Allnorth mining business
  • Revenue acquisition, retention and growth for the mining sector with regional focus on Eastern North America, or operations based out to Eastern Canada
  • Prepare, schedule and facilitate regular client service reviews highlight existing client services, any opportunities for new business, the status of account plans, and service levels


What You’ll Bring to the Team


  • Eligible for registration as a PEng, or P Geo
  • A B.A.Sc. in a related discipline with PEng certification is preferred as is an advanced business degree
  • Secondary education and training in mineral processing and asset
  • Demonstrate expert understanding of mineral processing in precious and base metals
  • Functional understanding of other aspects of mining in including; underground and open pit mining, mine construction, mining logistics and transportation
  • Project Management ability and experience - capable of delivering complex projects successfully under a wide range of contractual and project delivery formats, incorporating sub-consultants in an effective delivery team structure
  • Proposal management experience - with a track record of crafting winning proposals for engineering assignments
  • Professional services sales – track record of success selling and growing a portfolio of business in an engineering consulting domain
  • Client focus – demonstrated capability to effectively develop, maintain and nurture strong relationships with clients by listening, understanding and responding to identified needs
  • Decision Making - knowledge of and able to use effective approaches for choosing an economic course of action or develop appropriate solutions and/or reach conclusions. Able to take action consistent with available facts, constraints, and anticipated consequences.
  • Receives broad direction from the General Manager and operates with a high degree of freedom while adhering to the Allnorth Principles and operational policies & procedures
  • Occasional travel (~30%) is required
