Vice-President, Operations - Western Canada

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of the AGF Group, the Vice-President Operations - Western Canada brings strong business acumen and holds profit and loss responsibility for his division. He will be comfortable supporting the company’s manufacturing and development activities with expertise, original concepts and ideas as well as the delivery of annual objectives and budget. He serves as a role model for the AGF Group's vision and values, and creates and fosters a culture of integrity and collaboration within management and across all divisions.


Role & Responsabilities:

  • Provide sound overall management of all functions under his responsibility through effective leadership and prudent financial management;
  • Manage operational budgets and expenses and oversee the effective allocation of resources. Ensure sufficient capacity and capability within the division and strategize on capability or capacity issues;
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AGF’s strengths and addressing challenges by monitoring and anticipating the construction industry trends;
  • Is responsible for top and bottom line growth simultaneously through strategic sales, proactive business development and operational effectiveness;
  • Deep financial acumen and strength working, analyzing and managing the P&L of the division;
  • Participate in the development of a vision and strategic plan with the Operations’ leadership team across Canada;
  • Analyze operational results in relation to established objectives, and ensure that appropriate measures are taken to rectify problem situations;
  • Ensure team collaboration in a continuous improvement and lean manufacturing approach to our operational processes;
  • Lead planning activities, approve budgets and business plans, and monitor results;
  • Review and approve specific business entity initiatives requiring significant capital expenditures, within the overall annual capital budget;
  • Play a key role in communication and ensure that management has the appropriate information to make decisions;
  • Promote effective teamwork. Foster communication within divisions to enable the free expression of ideas and rapid decision-making;
  • Ensure that the strategic plan for the company and its division is current, measurable, achievable, motivating and persuasive, and that it can be exceeded;
  • Establish and maintain strategic contacts in the business world and act as the company's representative.

What we are looking for:

  • University degree in engineering or administration;
  • More than 15 years' experience in the construction industry and 5 in a Vice-President role;
  • Committed leader in the field, advocating the development of positive working relationships based on the sharing of information, expertise and knowledge, as well as effective communication to create a work climate that fosters trust, mutual aid and respect;
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive and lasting interpersonal relationships. Excellent teamwork skills and diplomacy;
  • Action and results-oriented, able to take decisions and solve problems;
  • Excellent ability to lead and mobilize a diverse team (multi-sites) and to set priorities.
  • Strong change management skills and high degree of versatility and flexibility.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate financial statements.
  • Organizational, mobilization, planning and control skills.
  • Well-developed analytical and synthesizing skills.
  • Good negotiation and persuasion skills.
