In this role you will work directly with the business unit leadership to create a product manufacturing strategy, drive continuous improvement through value stream mapping, and implement lean principles to support aggressive, sustainable long term business growth.Functional Reports: Production Scheduling Supply Chain Material Handling Manufacturing Engineering Quality MAJOR DUTIES: Reporting directly to the General Manager, SuperTrak; the Director, Operations has accountability for the fulfillment of all orders received, from order entry to Purchase Order close. You will establish processes for overseeing, evaluating, and driving management direction for all manufacturing, production, manufacturing engineering, materials, assembly related disciplines as defined by the Quality Management System.The focus of the role will be to continue effectively scaling SuperTrak’s manufacturing footprint as part of the growing business unit, including support of a satellite operation in Europe. This will require planning and close coordination with the leadership team to establish strategic direction and supported investments. In this capacity you will work closely with the sales teams, applications engineering, product management, general manager, and key customers to drive continued and sustainable growth.The Director, Operations will also be instrumental in fostering an ATS Business Model (ABM) mindset and culture of Continuous Improvement within day-to-day operations, which will be essential to our long-term success.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director, Operations is accountable for the below three key objectives, inclusive of strategic planning and budget ownership required to drive their completion:Continuous improvement in operational efficiencies and reductions in cost. Delivery of projects on time and on budget. A culture of customer focus. Health and Safety: Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environment compliance. Ensure that the requirements of the health, safety and environment management system are implemented and maintained. Additional InformationQUALIFICATIONS: Education: A degree in engineering, business, or other related field. Computer literacy as applied to manufacturing management. Experience: Demonstrated leadership in a product-based production environment for 10+ years. Experience with developing, recommending, evaluating and obtaining approval of sound business plans and programs to optimize the division for the short and long term. This includes Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Goal Deployment, Level 1 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as well as customer specific opportunity bids and pursuit strategies. Experience providing clarity of direction, motivation and development of capability within the team. Experience delivering financial performance of the business unit by ensuring that cost, risk and quality is managed to plan. Proven success driving results in a continuous improvement data-driven culture. You will lead and support the use of the ATS Business Model (ABM) lean tools & principles, driving execution of plans with key performance metrics, daily visual management, problem solving and Kaizen ensuring continuous improvement through accountability and ownership of the team. Well versed in manufacturing operations, regulatory compliance, and planning development – including supply-chain, procurement, drawings, planning/scheduling, and management. Proven knowledge and experience in MRP (material resource planning) and/or Kanban, inventory control and supply chain methodologies. Experience directing capital expenditure and asset redeployment activities, controlling the human resource cost and growth, and providing leadership in the preparation and implementation of effective operating budgets for the division. Strong communication and presentation skills are required - this position requires the maturity, education, presence and competence to achieve credibility and respect from within the Company and from professionally qualified customer personnel who are responsible for placing multi-million dollar orders. The ideal candidate should have proven experience leading teams in a product-based and change management environment.
